New Sour Soda Pop Released in 2022!

Sour candy has had its moment to shine for the greater part of the last 3 decades. In the early 1990’s, sour candy became some of the most popular sweets on store’s shelves, and kids just couldn’t stop talking about them.

Now, in the 2020’s sour candy has another moment to shine, but this time it’s in liquid form! Sour soda pop is hitting the market with a bang, and as sour candy enthusiasts ourselves, we couldn’t possibly be more excited for what’s to come.

Two giants in the sour candy world have come out with their own sour sodas this year.

First, Impact Confections’ Sour Warheads has created 5 flavors of distinctly sour soda that were announced at the 2022 Sweets & Snacks Expo. These are available in 12 oz cans, with flavors including blue raspberry, lemon, watermelon, sour green apple and cherry. We think these Warheads Sour Sodas are poised to turn the soda market on its head. As the company’s marketing exclaims: “soda will never be the same!”

Second, Toxic Waste Candy has teamed up with novelty soda makers Rocket Fizz to create their own sour sodas. The Rocket Fizz Toxic Waste Slime Licker sour sodas come in three distinct flavors: sour blue razz, sour strawberry and sour green apple. Each unique flavor will bring your taste buds to the brink of sour annihilation!

Sour candy challenges will turn into sour soda challenges

If you’re in the candy business, or even just a candy enthusiast, you have most likely seen the sour candy challenges on internet sites like TikTok or YouTube.

These challenges typically involve eating the most extremely sour candy in the world. The winner is usually determined by how much they can eat, or how long someone can handle the extreme pucker they get from eating the world’s most sour candies.

Many of these videos feature kids of all ages trying things like Toxic Waste Slime Lickers, Warheads, Sour Patch Kids, Airheads Xtremes Sour Belts, sour candy powder and more. The challenge comes from trying to keep a straight face while the sour candy is fiercely attacking their mouth’s taste receptors.

With all of these exciting new sour soda pop candy-inspired products on the market, a new chance to claim internet glory has arrived! A quick Google search already comes up with numerous videos of people trying the Warheads Sour Soda for the first time.

Before these sour sodas were willed into existence this year, people had been making their own sour sodas at home and posting videos of their experience online.

YouTuber, Kyle’s Toys & Games posted a video where he soaked some Warheads candies in carbonated water at home and made his own Warheads-flavored fizzy drink with his Soda Stream machine. These machines add carbon dioxide to liquid, creating the unique soda bubbles. The kids in this video really seemed to enjoy their extremely sour creations!

Another popular YouTube personality, FaZe Rug took the sour beverage to an even wilder extreme back in 2020. In this video, he and his friends mixed fruit juice, energy drinks and virtually every kind of sour candy into a blender to make the ultimate sour drink.

The end result turned out to be a brownish, toxic sludge that while sweet, did not look very enjoyable to those who participated in the challenge. The video’s title even warns: “DO NOT TRY”. You can watch the hilarious results for yourself in the video below.

It is however an easy-drinking, refreshing beverage with the perfect amount of sweetness that’s light in both flavor and mouth feel.

Lastly, another entry from Rocket Fizz is their Lester’s Fixins Pickle Juice Soda. We guarantee this is a soda that doesn’t taste like anything you’ve ever had before! It’s not at all like drinking juice from the pickle jar. This is a sweet and incredibly refreshing craft soda for the pickle lovers among us. While there is a hint of dill pickle sourness in this beverage, it remains incredibly easy to drink down in large gulps.
