It’s the Beginning of Summer Retro Candy Season!

Summer is the perfect time of year to enjoy some of your favorite candy from years past. Who can forget your childhood trips to the grocery store, the ballpark, or your local movie theatre. Wonka Bottle Caps

Who doesn’t remember getting a roll of Wonka Bottle Caps at the Saturday matinee movie showing when they were a kid? As an adult, you may be popping a different type of bottle cap in the warm weather, but these treats will surely make you feel like a kid again.

With classic soda pop flavors like root beer, cherry, grape, orange and cola these offer a sweet treat that is quite unique. Nothing will pass by the time on a long road trip like a roll of Wonka’s Bottle Caps.

Bit-O-Honey

Bit-O-Honey were the perfect light snack when it was warm outside. I remember riding my bike across town and keeping a handful of these in my pocket. By the time I got where I was going they would be oh so soft! These also come as bulk candies and are individually-wrapped, so they’re perfect for sharing with your friends!

Made of real honey and almond bits, Bit-O-Honey is the perfect addition to any summer outing! They offer a quick sweet treat to unwrap and enjoy!

Big Hunk Candy Bar

Speaking of candy that gets really soft when it’s hot outside, the Big Hunk candy bar was always a crowd pleaser! This chewy, honey-sweetened nougat bar is made with whole roasted peanuts that packs a long-lasting flavor. Every time we went on a long road trip, our mom would give us each a Big Hunk bar, knowing that the chewy goodness would keep us quiet for many, many miles.

Sixlets

For some reason, I always preferred Sixlets to M&M’s when I was growing up. Don’t get me wrong, I loved both! But Sixlets were seen much less often than their more abundant counterpart, and that was part of the appeal for me.

I think a lot of the joy for me was pushing on one end of the cellophane tube and shooting them into your mouth. It always reminded me of taking that first shot in a game of pinball at the local arcade. While they are coated with a hard candy shell on the outside, the chocolate inside is so soft and delicious.

Sixlets simply make for the perfect chocolate treats for the summertime. The chocolate never melts and makes a mess of your hands. They’re also great to mix in with your popcorn at the movie theatre! Talk about satisfying your sweet and salty cravings!

Goetze Cow Tales

Cow Tales were a big hit when I was in elementary school. They are a sweet snack stick, made of caramel and filled with sweet cream center. Now, did you pretend you were eating a real cow’s tail when you were a kid? Maybe it was just me…
